Two more new designs rolled out today and both are made from reclaimed wood. The unique cube table ($619 + Free Delivery) above is created from solid Oak cut from a beam taken from a 19th Century Fish Hatchery in Illinois. When the building was recently demolished and the components were sold, we snatched up the ceiling support beams to create these wonderful, earth-friendly tables.
Not to be out done, our new set of 8 Cedar Wood Coasters ($45 + Free Delivery) below have a live edge and are created from slices of solid cedar wood rescued from fallen limbs in the forests of Northern new Mexico. They have been treated with a with a protective lacquer topcoat and each and every one is completely unique.

Fresh out of the oven is a hot batch of new Cedar Slice Coasters made from locally harvested wood. They debuted in the shop today and will be available online very soon.

I'll be short and sweet, we have two new products online and we want you to know about them.
Our new graphic Gonzales Stool Table ($199 + Free Delivery) is sculpted from solid pine by our artists in New Mexico, using locally harvested wood. With it we debut a new white washed finish that will possibly soon be available on more of our tables.
The Wood Stump Waste Bin ($225 + Free Delivery) looks like it is created from a hollowed tree stump, but it is actually handcrafted in fiberglass by an American artist. He first creates a cast of an actual stump and then applies fiberglass to the inside of the mold, creating a lightweight replica. If you like the look of this we also suggest our Aspen Stump Stool Table available here.

We've been busy. Drawing, tweaking, developing, sanding, staining, rusting, you name it. Products have been in development and it is now time for the big debut.
We often add new styles to the website, but lately we have been on a whirlwind to say the least. Check out the latest additions to our collection below.
The Elm Wood Bench Table and Serving Tray above are made here in New Mexico from solid wood. Chinese Elm Trees were first planted in Albuquerque in the early 20th Century. They eventually spread into the bosque (woodlands along the Rio Grande River) where they are pushing out native species, such as Cottonwoods, altering this delicate eco-system. Elms are now being removed in an effort to help restore the bosque and we are snatching them up to make these elegant, contemporary designs.
The beautiful Goya End Table at a large 18" diameter is turned from a solid block of Margosa wood and is perfect as a monumental side table or as a sculptural stool.
-
And now for the waste bins...our charcoal gray paper waste bin is handmade by artisans in Japan from durable, double walled paper and the classic waste bin above is constructed from a durable shaped board frame and then covered with embossed goat leather.
It features top stitching along the seams and a wipeable brown painted interior. It is finished with antiqued brass grommets. The handwork of the artisan is visible in every detail.
The Lorenzo and Rebekah tables are handmade in New Mexico, USA using traditional wood beam construction found in adobe homes, while the contrasting wood finishes and minimal lines update them with a modern twist.
-
This enticing pillow in white Mongolian Lamb has a silky fabric back and closes with a zipper hidden along the seam of one edge, leaving only a sleek pull visible.
We love dark brown and black when mixed together and the elegant Montgomery Side Table represents the contrast beautifully. The top surface is covered in durable chocolate brown leather and the base is constructed in solid Margosa wood with an Ebony finish.
This minimalist tray is formed from solid steel with an oxidized finished. It is treated with a clear lacquer for protection and features felts pads on the base.
-
And we'll wrap it up with a personal favorite, the Steer Skull Pillow in linen with an embossed leather steer skull appliqué. This handsome pillow has a matching linen back and is available in black or bone colored leather.

It’s no secret that I’m a total fanatic of African objects. Their handmade masks and stools are my favorites, and I love sitting in a space surrounded by them pretending I am somewhere deep inside the Dark Continent. I’m so excited that we have discovered a few wonderful new African pieces to add to our collection. Most are vintage one-of-a-finds and our Hand Carved Ashanti Stool is a contemporary style, which is surely to become a favorite on the site for some time to come.

Our contemporary Ashanti Stool ($375.00 + Free Delivery) is hand carved by artisans from a single block of wood from the Cedrela tree. Like traditional stools, it has a crescent-shaped seat and flat base, but a simple central circle replaces the more typical Adinkra symbol in the middle.
Stools are spiritual and practical objects in the Ashanti culture of West Africa. They are understood to be the seat of the owner's soul and when not in use are leaned against a wall so that other souls passing by will not settle on it. Click here to learn more.
Our two new vintage Nupe Stools (above) are $279.00 + Free Delivery and $175.00 + Free Delivery, respectively. Most Nupe are Muslim and their art is therefore abstract, with only some stylized animals in relief on their doors and some pots. Their stools come in many forms yet are all carved from single blocks of wood. Amazingly, the grain of the wood runs horizontally, even across the legs. All share a richly carved top surface.
This vintage Punu mask ($175.00 + Free Delivery) from Gabon features many of the common characteristics from the region, including protruding lips. It is also painted in the traditional white with kaolin clay to represent the spirit of a dead ancestor. Click here to learn more about this One-Of-A-Kind piece now.
The Fang people used masks in their secret societies. Members of this male society wore the Ngil masks during the initiation of new members and the persecution of wrongdoers. Masqueraders, clad in raffia costumes and attended by helpers, would materialize in the village after dark, illuminated by flickering torchlight. Our
vintage Fang mask ($279.00 + Free Delivery) is enormous at 50 inches long and is a one-of-a-kind piece.

It’s our favorite kind of situation…dogs get into trash, client gets upset at dogs, and client seeks solution to problem. That’s exactly what happened when someone from New York City called us recently with this very scenario. She needed a way to keep the dogs out and asked us to make a custom lid for one of our leather waste bins. The upcharge was only $19 and just two (2) weeks later, her dilemma was resolved.

If you are discovering Pfeifer Studio for the first time, you might not know about our custom design capabilities. Working with global artisans to create custom designs for our clients, many of our online products, like the Leather Waste Bin, can be ordered in custom sizes and materials. We also create original one-of-a-kind designs that can be produced in larger quantities.

Newsworthy endeavors to clean up our earth are all around us, and at Pfeifer Studio we continue to seek out opportunities and products that help make our planet a better place. Big into the whole repurposing and recycling movement, our latest product discovery includes an entire product line that’s handmade from recycled and laminated newspaper. Adding to our extensive collection of unique waste bins, we couldn’t resist this newspaper wastebasket sewn and laminated with a durable water resistant finish built for everyday use. Adding a decorative touch to the office or bath, it makes for a very cool paper bin and serves as an important reminder to keep our recycling efforts going.

Recycled Newpaper Waste Bin - 10.5 x 10. 5 x 12.5 H inches - $65 + Free Delivery
While we’re on the subject, here are some interesting paper facts you might not know:
The history of paper dates back almost 2,000 years to when inventors in China first crafted cloth sheets to record their drawings and writings. Before then, people communicated through pictures and symbols etched on stone, bones, cave walls, or clay tablets. Today, paper is made from trees mostly grown on working forests and from recovered paper. Recycling has always been a part of papermaking. When you recycle your used paper, paper mills will use it to make new newspapers, notebook paper, paper grocery bags, corrugated boxes, envelopes, magazines, cartons, and other paper products. Besides using recovered paper and trees to make paper, paper mills may also use wood chips and sawdust left over from lumber operations (whose products are used to make houses, furniture, and other things). Today, more than 36 percent of the fiber used to make new paper products in the United States comes from recycled sources.
And, according to the American Forest & Paper Association...
- Last year a record-high of 63.4% of paper used in the U.S. was recovered for recycling.
- Last year the amount of paper recovered for recycling averaged 325 pounds for each man, woman, and child in the United States.
There are many great efforts happening to make our planet a better place. At Pfeifer Studio we have an ever-growing eco-friendly product line featuring modern designs that are 100% natural, finished with non-toxic earth-friendly products or created from reclaimed wood and materials. We invite you to check out our latest additions, as well as some of our other super interesting waste bins that could also be used for recycling paper.

Ceramic Vase - 10 diameter x 16.5 H inches - $245
We are totally loving this beautiful new ceramic vase in our showroom from artist Mike McDowell. He's the man behind the cool skull with a gold tooth that you may have found if you've spent any time perusing our site. He says that his "objective is to hand craft beautiful, well made objects for your home." His new body of ceramic work is built to clearly show the hand of the maker to contrast with, yet compliment, contemporary design trends.
We can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

In case you didn’t know, there’s more to Pfeifer Studio than the incredibly extraordinary Pfeifer Finds and the totally exceptional Pfeifer Exclusives. Our custom division is getting a lot of attention lately, and rightfully so.
Typically when we put pen to paper it’s because we have a completely great idea for a new Pfeifer Exclusive and can’t wait to write it down. However, sometimes a design sweeps across our drafting table and it’s not by us, but rather one of our clients with a great idea of their own. Recently commissioned by a hotel in California to make a custom leather desk set for their lobby, we couldn’t wait to show you the final outcome.

Made at our workshop in India, by our oh-so-talented artisans, the leather desk set was finely crafted from goat leather for a thick durable surface and hand-embossed. Luxury fit for a king, we made it for a very competitive price, and it was delivered in just 4 weeks!

We are often involved in some really interesting and creative custom projects. Known to modify a current Pfeifer design, whether a request for a different size, an alternative material, or a custom color, we are always excited when someone comes to us with the need for something original or one-of-a-kind. Lucky to have a collective of gifted global artisans, we are able to produce an affordable variety of leather goods, wood furniture, wool soft goods, custom upholstery, and woven garments and accessories.
The next time you place your order with Pfeifer Studio, if you need it to be a little bit different, we’d love to work with you.

Somewhere in a nearby library, study, or music room sits a waste bin filled with crumpled pages of clever thoughts and brilliant ideas. Be it a classic novel, a screenplay, or a world-famous symphony in progress, throughout the centuries, no masterpiece was ever created without a waste bin by the creator’s side.
At Pfeifer Studio our waste bins are designed to be beautiful decorative accessories, and like any great work of art they go through their own series of revisions before revealing the final product. New to our collection, and exclusively available only through Pfeifer Studio, the Crocodile Leather Waste Bin and Oval Leather Waste Bin offer stylish simplicity blended with Old World charm and a contemporary disposition. No doubt admiring their fine detailing and handiwork, you’ll be proud to place them anywhere in your home.
Leather Waste Bin with a Crocodile Emboss - 9 x 9 x 12 H inches - $149.00
Full of character and class, the Crocodile Leather Waste Bin is just right for the office or study. Telling the story of how a rugged crocodile hunter became oh-so-refined without losing his edge, this waste bin combines elegance with durable construction. Solid wood covered with rich brown leather, each section is delicately hand-cut and hand-embossed to resemble the look and feel of crocodile skin. Rubbed with a high-gloss lacquer before adding the final topstitching, the black painted interior provides for an infinite realm of story-ending possibilities, and the rubber base helps with the journey’s soft landing.
Oval Leather Waste Bin - 10 x 7 12 H inches - $149.00
Place the Oval Leather Waste Bin in your work space and listen closely, because you might just hear Mozart playing in the background. Remembering a time when quill pens were used to write music, this leather waste bin will take you back to the Old World with its hand stitching and naturally tanned leather hide construction. Smooth, sleek, and refined, you’ll also discover it’s a great fit for any contemporary setting.
For many, a waste bin is simply a utilitarian receptacle for placing garbage. But for most, there’s a certain thought process that goes into finding the right one for the right room and for the right situation. Whether it’s the creator that made the artful waste bin or the waste bin used to fill up the creator’s thoughts, Pfeifer Studio has a unique collective for you to select from. But remember to choose wisely, because you never know where it might just inspire you to go.

We have been busy with many great custom projects lately, everything from large furniture pieces to smaller customizations of existing styles from the collection. Recently a designer in California wanted to create leather waste bins embossed with a company logo for one of her client’s offices and she knew that the place to turn to was Pfeifer Studio. -
Custom design is often very simple. For this project, we took an existing design, our Leather Waste Bin, fabricated it at a unique dimension (10 x 10 x 10 inches) and embossed the leather sides with custom logos. Leather embossing plates with custom patterns and text are inexpensive and quick to create. In fact, the entire project took only 3 weeks to complete, and to expedite the process the order was dropped shipped directly to the client from our workshop in India.
The Final Product: Waste Bins with Custom Embosses
At Pfeifer Studio, we work with global artisans to create custom designs for our clients. Many of the styles sold online can be ordered in custom sizes and materials. We also create original one-of-a-kind designs and custom styles that are produced in larger quantities.

Our newest arrival is an elegant Japanese serving tray in rich reddish-brown cherry bark veneer. The surface features dramatic highlights in the grain pattern, which are created by stripes of light brown inherent to the wood. This handmade tray was created in the long tradition of cherry bark veneer work, practiced in Japan for well over 1000 years. Like flower arranging and haiku, cherry bark veneer work was originally developed by the Samurai as a way to channel their bushido spirit and express their creativity. Today craftsmen take bark and pound it down into thin strips before applying the veneer to the surface of our solid wood tray. Click here to learn more. The latest design to arrive online is our new eco-friendly Woven Vine Waste Bin. It is 100% natural, handmade and at 13 diameter x 15 H inches, provides ample room for all that you need to toss. What's more, the thick wooden vine used to weave it is extremely durable and ready to stand the test of time.
It has a sculptural quality that we love and the interlacing weaving pattern really gives it a handmade feel. The weaving process is time intensive and it can take up to a week to weave each waste bin. The vines are collected when they are not producing, from late fall to early spring and hung to dry in a cool, dark place. They are then soaked overnight in lukewarm water prior to weaving. The end result create individual pieces, which are completely unique. Click here to order yours now!

Our Reclaimed Copper Bowls are even more beautiful today than when they were first created in India in the early 20th Century, thanks to a rich natural patina that has developed over the decades.
What's more, they are vintage, which, according to treehugger.com "can be the most green" of all home accessories because "vintage.. requires no additional resources to manufacture, is pre-offgassed and eases the load on the landfill."
Each bowl is one-of-a-kind and was made in Rajasthan, where Indian craftsmen have used use metals in their decorative arts for thousands of years. The city of Jaipur is the main center for metal work, where ethnic designs and geometric patterns are hammered or embossed on the surfaces of decorative home accessories and jewelry designs.
