There's a feast of new, globally sourced inventory in the store this month. But first, we'd like to announce that our jewerly case (i.e. the fancier business) is 20% OFF through August!

Dao Textiles: Right now we are selling these beautiful, handmade Dao clutch purses for $25. The Dao are an ethnic minority group in Vietnam known for intricate, colorful embroidery. These little bags are one-of-a-kind works of art.

Neem Wood Combs: Last month Pfeifer Studio founder AJ traveled to India to oversee a large custom furniture order for a hotel in the Cayman Islands. While there he picked up these classy little combs for the shop (along with incense and new elephant quilts). They're made from the wood of the neem tree, a fast-growing, delicious-smelling tropical evergreen which is native to the Indian subcontinent. Get yours for $11.

AG Bags: We have new bags from Alchemy Goods, the company that gives new life to blown-out bike tubes, old seat belts, and advertising banners. The Rainer Tote, yours for $85, is seen here. We also have a variety of indestructible messengers and backpacks. Plus, as new participants in AG's recycling program, you can now bring your busted inner tubes to us and we'll help AG upcycle them.

Vietnamese Craft Chocolate: Marou is Vietnam's first artisanal chocolate maker, pioneering a crop that was marginal in the country until only recently. Pfeifer is proud to carry five varieties of this Fairtrade delicacy, each with a unique terroir and cocoa content. At $8.99 per bar, we promise it's worth every penny.

20% Off Jewelry Case Items: Remember to stop in this month and take a look, and even try on, some of the gorgeous items in our jewelry case. If you've had your eye on a bronze Heather Hanley cuff or some sterling silver dangle earrings from Thailand, now is an excellent time to make them yours. The sale extends through the end of August.

Hand Painted Side Tables: Come feast your eyes on our new side tables, made out of solid ponderosa pine sourced from the mountains of Northern New Mexico. Each table is painted by local artist J. Myers in a style inspired by Spanish colonial folk art. This table is available in three sizes (12 dia x 16 H seen here for $379), and, as always, custom tables are available upon request.

Pfeifer Pantry
Discover Pfeifer Pantry, a collection of artisanal foods that we love, which have never before been available in Albuquerque. Swing by our shop the next time you are in the neighborhood, or make a special trip to check out our scrumptious selection! Our debut offering features a tour of delectable goods from near and far including chocolate from Hawaii, hand foraged jams from Denver, heirloom beans from Idaho, fairly traded tea from Kenya and the featured delicacies below

Carolina Creole

We start our tour down south with a delicious Carolina Creole sauce consisting of a unique balance of spicy and sweet. You'll find it works beautifully with chicken, sausage, or vegetables, and, of course, shrimp. The sauce combines roughly chopped onions, bell peppers and tomatoes with signature spices. Traditionally, Carolina Creole is served over rice and topped with crumbled bacon, but we've found stone grits and grilled polenta cakes to be a worthy match.

Empire Mayonnaise

Our artisan mayonnaise is straight outta New York! We brought in the Classic Mayo and the White Truffle Mayo, which is embarrassingly decadent. Like, maybe shouldn't be eaten in public. Here's a hint: Drop a dollop on a freshly grilled steak, or put a small ramekin of it next to a warm artichoke. The ingredients are Non-GMO canola oil, White Truffles, pasteurized Hudson Valley egg yolks, vinegar and salt.

Pasolivo

Next we headed across the country for Pasolivo Olive Oils, made in Paso Robles, California on the central coast. They hand-pick their olives and press them just steps away in their own olive press. The olives are grown organically and sustainably, and they take great care with the oils from the tree to the table. If that is not enough to convince you, they placed Top 10 In The World at Der Feinschmeker (Europe's largest olive oil tasting), Best in Show at the Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition and Best in Show at the San Diego Wine & Food Festival!

BKLYN Hard Candy

Now we went back east, once again to New York for a sweet treat! Brooklyn Hard Candy was started in 2010 by two graduates of Le Cordon Bleu London, who set out to create a craft American candy company that was built on a foundation of using the best ingredients to make the finest product. Cooked in small batches using a copper candy kettle, the candy is handcrafted using old school techniques and modern day formulas. Brooklyn Hard Candy is also proud to use sustainable, recyclable packaging that's produced in the USA.

Carolina Gold Rice

And we end up back where we started, in the Carolinas with an heirloom crop, Carolina Gold Rice. In 1685, a distressed merchant ship paid for repairs in Charleston with a small quantity of rice seed from Madagascar. The rice soon became the staple of the new cuisine developing in the Low Country South.

The rice also became a major export crop. As Ambassador to France, Thomas Jefferson served Carolina Gold to dignitaries when he entertained. After the Civil War, rice production moved west and mechanization led to "improved" varieties. The old rice survived in small family plots, being tended as had been done for generations. Carolina Gold is experiencing a resurgence, but production is very limited with less than 200 acres in cultivation in the Carolinas.

Custom Cubes

Local Pfeifer shoppers might recognize the inspiration for this custom shelf that we just delivered yesterday. It is a modification of display shelving at the back of our shop. We changed the wood and dimensions and threw on some wheels to make it a perfect fit for a house in Albuquerque.

”Thai Cotton Clothing

Much has been happening in our shop on the fashion front. We debuted a collection of clothing that is flying off the racks. We even have a new dressing room so you can check out the look before leaving the store. One of our best sellers is a collection of tops created from hand-dyed cotton by artisans in Thailand. Like most of the items we carry the prices are hot and each is individually handmade. The little number shown above is a cool $35.00. Not bad for a handmade garment. Swing by soon to see for yourself.

Give her an idea and she’ll paint it. She can sew it, build it, display it, promote it, and she’s even-so-good she can sell it. Famous artist, world-traveler, ultra-creative thinker, and carpenter (did I mention she can use power tools…yes!), she’s a social media maven, recipient of numerous grants and awards, well-published, and she’s even referred to herself as a linchpin. On board at Pfeifer Studio, we are excited to welcome our newest addition to the Pfeifer family, Rebekah Potter…and her little bloKs too!

Having just moved from New York City to Albuquerque, Rebekah’s wooden bloKs (you can learn more about them at bloks.squarespace.com), are now also available at Pfeifer Studio and have been featured in Time Out New York, Elle Japon, Cool Mom Picks parenting blog, The Jackson Free Press, Planet Weekly and Skirt! magazine.

Although her bloKs are typically only 3.5 x 5 inches, each one is known to make a statement. Combing a word and object, her art sometimes represents the obvious, makes a joke, or is there just to baffle. Sanded and hand painted in acrylic and ready to hang, her bloKs have been purchased by directors, photographers, incredible mothers, creative daughters, hip sons, adventurous librarians, and even Penguin Books and Delta Magazine. A great gift, especially for the person who has everything, she even makes custom commissions upon request.

Rebekah has lived many lives aside from being an artist, and has also lived all over the US and Japan. From production coordinator, office manager, yoga instructor, waitress, sales assistant, entrepreneur, marketing professional, creative director, foreign language instructor, retailer, department manager, curator, and proprietor.

Handpainted BloKs - $39.00 In Store Only

We invite you to stop in and say hello to Rebekah (she's here every Friday and Sunday + many days in between) and check out her ultra-seriously cool art bloKs. Though they may be small, they make a great impact…and we’re sure Rebekah will too!

Put your feet up, have a soak, and wear your bathrobe the next time you shop Pfeifer Studio…from Betty’s Bath and Day Spa in Albuquerque that is! Exactly two weeks ago today, we opened a store-within-a-store at Albuquerque’s only soak, relaxation and wellness spa. We are thrilled about this collaboration and can’t think of a better place to exhibit some of our eclectic jewels and fashions (aside from Pfeifer Studio of course).

Located in the lobby of Betty’s, you will find a completely unique and beautifully displayed collection of all the accessories anyone could ever need to feel beautiful. Bangles galore, a fine selection of scarves, a wonderful variety of beaded necklaces and handbags…and please don’t forget to check out my favorite silk clutch, the Hand Painted Kalamkari.

If you’ve been keeping up with Pfeifer Studio (BTW you can follow us on Facebook), you’ve probably noticed how incredibly busy we’ve been lately with custom projects and orders from around the globe. We’re excited that our clientele is building in Chicago and New York, and with this new pop-up endeavor, you never know when Pfeifer will find its way to your location. But for now, with all our hard work and excitement, we’re heading to Betty’s Bath for some fabulous facials and some serious down time.

Hope to see you there!
