Everyone loves a pet parade with tons of pooches (and reportedly a pig) in wacky costumes. So dress up your mutt and head over to the plaza on Saturday for our first annual Pet Parade. The party to celebrate our shop's second anniversary in the North Valley was a blast! There was great food (tamales), beautiful dancing (belly), great music (live Jazz), great deals (one-night-only) and wonderful guests! Thanks to all of you that came out to celebrate.

Its summertime in Albuquerque's North Valley and that means that the lavender is ready to harvest just down the road from the studio at Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Cultural Center.
Be sure to drop by Pfeifer Studio on the way to the annual Lavender in the Village Festival. We'll have tasty treats and some great discounts in front of the shop at our sidewalk sale. Hilary Smith will be performing with Soul Kitchen Trio on Saturday from 3 - 4:30pm. You can register to win a gift basket valued at $500 with great loot from every shop in the plaza (we threw in a one-of-a-kind leather pillow!) and there will be delicious Lavender Lemonade over at the Flying Star Cafe.

Head over to our showroom in Albuquerque's North Valley tomorrow, Saturday March 20th, and stop in to visit our neighbor, Bookworks, Albuquerque's largest independent bookseller, at their celebration to benefit Haitian earthquake relief. The event's silent auction will feature papier maiche sculptures handmade by Haitian artisans, donated by Pfeifer Studio!
All the proceeds from their store profits for the day, donations, the auction and raffle will be split between the American Red Cross and Partners in Health Haiti efforts.
Haiti may be out of the headlines these days but our help is still needed!

Although our retail showroom is located in Albuquerque’s North Valley we are only about 300 yards outside the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, which is essentially a village within the greater city limits. Located in a rural setting, Los Ranchos is home to riparian farmland and in the summer, endless fields of lavender.
When the second weekend of July rolls around the fields are in full bloom, and it is once again time for the annual Lavender in the Village Festival. Imagine vibrantly-hued fields on a sunny day, children playing and laughing, cooking classes, shopping, art, growers' markets and you’ll get a good idea of what the event holds.

To celebrate, Pfeifer Studio is hosting a preview of new jewelry from two of our most popular designers; Rahel Fikre-Selassie and Amy Simon-Jackson. For those of you not familiar with their work, each is influenced by tribal art and exotic materials.

Rahel, who was born in Ethiopia, searches to find a “balance, a fusion between Ethiopia and the United States, to find a way so they are not in conflict and to minimize any contradiction. My jewelry is an expression of my search for a balance. I hope that whoever wears them will also feel a sense of being transported to another space, with it's own language and culture."

Amy, a native of Texas and long-time resident of New Mexico, thinks that “to adorn oneself is a uniquely human trait. You don't often hear about other animals making accessories for themselves....although I do know of a "carrier shell" that decorates its shell with other smaller shells. What is this urge? My jewelry is a product of my fascination with and enjoyment of adornment. Jewelry making is a way of play for me and I hope my pieces will accentuate the wearer’s natural beauty and individuality as he or she walks the path.”

Santa Fe’s Trend magazine is bringing New Mexico art and design live to LA in the Trend Lounge, a collaboration of the New Mexico art and design community to create a place of relaxation and inspiration at the LA Art Show.
Visitors to the lounge will find select Pfeifer Studio designs in the media room, created by designer Beth Rekow, an innovative intersection of light, design and furniture in a fusion of contemporary and traditional design principles. Design Week Santa Fe kicks off tomorrow here in New Mexico and all of us at Pfeifer Studio are delighted to have 3 pieces from our collection: The Winston Bench, Abaidoo Stool Table & Goathide Footstool featured in the Design Exhibition. Puro Belleza: A Distinctive Design Showcase displays the breadth of New Mexico design including graphic design, architecture, fashion and furniture.
Other highlights of Santa Fe Design Week include Interiors Dialogue a panel discussion exploring "the questions we all have about finding our own personal inspirations and translating them into successful designs for our spaces" The dialogue is moderated by Western Interiors Editor-In-Chief, Michael Wollaeger and features Sherri Donghia as a panelist.
Another not-to-miss event will surely be the fashion show featuring the work of Argentinean designer Carola Bessaso. Santa Fe and Buenos Aires, Argentina share the UNESCO creative cities design designation.

Just in Time for Valentines Day, Pfeifer is excited to host a preview of new jewelry designs by artist Susana Brown at our New Mexico showroom this Sat & Sun (February 10-11.) For those of you who can not attend, please check the site soon for the new styles.
Susana Brown always knew that she wanted a life filled with exploration and adventure. Her passion for ancient cultures lead her to travel the world. For the past 26 years, Susana has sought out experience and first hand knowledge of lost civilizations by visiting and living in such places as Egypt, India, Greece, the Yucatan Peninsula, Belize, Bali and the Hawaiian Islands. Today she is fascinated by the sacred expressions of antiquity revealed through a culture's symbols, architecture, dance, stories, prayers, jewelry and art.
Her new design firm, SIS Designs, is a rapidly growing artisan jewelry company located in Virginia, which provided jobs for single mother and working women needing to stay at home with small children. Each piece is skillfully handcrafted in the US. Susana Brown incorporates her passion and knowledge of ancient sacred symbols into her designs through the materials and elements she uses. She brings the mystery of antiquity into a modern day wearable work of art. Her unique style is formed by her sense of adventure, global experience and dedicated commitment to benefiting her local community
