Happy New Year Pfeifer Pfans! We can’t wait to bring you another fantastic year full of new products, interesting design perspectives, Pfeifer PFavorites, and of course the latest news as to what’s happening in the studio. In my opinion, there’s no better way to kick-start 2011 than with an introduction to some of the latest trends in color…so let’s go.

COLOR

Each year we anxiously await the release of new color palettes. Thrilled to see gray tones are still with us, I was surprised to see how many different palettes there are to choose from. From calm and soothing to spunky and spicy. Color creates a mood, and much of the inspiration for 2011 comes from our economy and the various states that people are in.

Farrow & Ball: In the just released January/February Lonny issue (www.lonnymag.com), Sarah Cole, design director for Farrow & Ball, suggests a gray-based palette for a relaxed and timeless look that can be mixed with soft blues and rich purples for an informal approach. For a more urban and contemporary fee, she suggests throwing in rust and a toned-down hue of white for balance. Check out these Farrow & Ball-inspired rooms from styleathome.com.

Benjamin Moore: Benjamin Moore’s Color Pulse forecast is all about Balance. BALANCE is an attribute that we all strive to live. Sorting the Real from the Surreal defines priorities that drive the direction for 2011, as it gives us a chance to dream of the future. From the rural influences to urban application, BALANCE is supported by 4 themes for COLOR PULSE 2011: The Farm, Order, Escape, and Tribe. Benjamin Moore's annual COLOR PULSE forecast has won awards and received international recognition. (benjaminmoore.com)

The Pfeifer Studio collection is grounded in the earth with wood tones, charcoal gray’s and scrumptious browns. We mix it up with colorful accessories, blankets and throw pillows in leather, wool, and silk. Below I have created my 2011 inspiration room mixed with a bit of Pfeifer, some Anthropologie, and Tory Burch signature orange, because I would of course need to look fabulous in my new space.

2) Modern Pedestal End Table: Pfeifer Exclusive
3) Striped Kilim Sofa: Anthropologie
4) Silk and Leather Pillow: Pfeifer Studio
5) Regency Daybed: Anthropologie
